This course is designed for students who have already reached A2 level and want to move towards more fluent and independent communication in Italian. Lessons take place online in a small group with an Italian teacher.
You have already completed A2 level
You know the main verb tenses and basic grammar structures, can communicate in simple situations and are ready to move on to the next level of Italian.
You want to speak more confidently
You can already communicate in Italian, but you want to spend less time thinking about every sentence, respond more quickly and take part in conversations more naturally.
You find spoken Italian difficult to understand
During the course, you will regularly work with listening activities, dialogues and authentic spoken Italian, gradually becoming more comfortable with a natural speaking pace.
You live or plan to live in Italy
B1 level helps you feel more confident in everyday situations: communicating with people, dealing with practical matters, talking about yourself and understanding others.
You want to expand your vocabulary
You will develop a broader active vocabulary and learn to use new words and expressions in real situations instead of simply recognising them in a textbook.
You want to organise and strengthen your grammar
We will consolidate the structures you already know and gradually introduce B1 grammar needed for more accurate, natural and confident communication.

What you will be able to do in Italian at B1 level
B1 is an important stage where Italian becomes a practical tool for real communication. You are no longer limited to short, basic phrases: you can take part in conversations independently, explain your ideas and understand the main points of everyday communication.
Take part in conversations
You will be able to talk about familiar topics, describe events, plans and experiences, ask questions and keep a conversation going without constantly switching to another language.
Express your opinions
You will learn to explain your point of view, agree and disagree, give simple arguments and explain the reasons behind your choices.
Understand spoken Italian better
You will be able to understand the main points of conversations, announcements, interviews and other audio content when the topic is familiar to you.
Read B1-level Italian texts
You will be able to understand emails, messages, articles, notices and texts on everyday topics, identifying both the main information and important details.
Write clear, connected texts
You will be able to write messages, emails and short texts, describe events and experiences, express your opinion and connect sentences in a clear and coherent way.
Handle everyday situations in Italy
You will feel more confident communicating in public offices, shops, at work, while travelling and in other everyday situations where you need to use Italian independently.
B1 is an independent-user level
At this stage, you can already use Italian independently in many familiar everyday situations. After reaching a solid B1 level, the next step is B2, where you develop greater fluency, accuracy and flexibility in communication.
Not sure if you are ready to start B1?
Take our free Italian level test. Based on your result, we will tell you whether the B1 group is suitable for you or whether it would be better to review some A2 topics first.
